Well here it is finally, a picture of my 1968 Portafold.

I 'rescued' mine from my old house in Devon last night and I took this picture in a lay-by on the way home. You could say this is an advert for living in Devon or Dorset, picturesque views over rolling hills. Absolutely beautiful.

Plus if anyone is looking for a modern car that will tow a Portafold with no problems can I recommend an Audi A4 2.5 V6 TDi. Seriously good towing torque.

Hi Matt, haven't you got lots of wheel clearance in your arches! Is the van loaded or empty here?

Loaded, but I don't use my awning and I don't take the original sink unit either. But it is 450kg.

I'm glad there is someone else out there who tows theirs with an 'ordinary' (although rather nice) car! - I, briefly, felt a little inferior when I spotted Sunbeam Tigers and Model 'A' rods being used as Portatugs

You're not the only one mate, ours is being towed by a bog standard Volvo...It's the sea air, anything older than 1970 rots away to obscurity..he he

The mudane Portatugs have some distinct advantages - you can hear the radio and your debit/credit card doesn't weeze and splutter as you approach each petrol station
