Wroughton 2009 - CANCELLED

Post by Admin » Wed, 04 Feb 2009, 2:36 pm

Why not join us on the 1st & 2nd August at Wroughton Airfield near Swindon for the Adrian Flux Wroughton Classic Car & Bike Show.

Due to a little confusion last year regarding where people were supposed to pitch, portafold.co.uk has decided to have their own stand at the show. We will be joining forces with Justine (Snorbs) and the rest of the Hampshire Bygones to form one stand which will cater for all Portafolds, Ansfolds and their classic towing vehicles. We’ll have a couple of gazebos up for people to congregate under (hopefully away from the scorching sun…) so bring your chairs and picnic blankets. Neil will be bringing his BBQ along for everyone to make use of; you just need to bring something to cook on it! Justine and I will also be supplying nibbles and light party snacks to give Saturday evening a party atmosphere.

The site opens at 3pm on the Friday afternoon and if you want you can stay right through till midday on the Monday. Not only does it make a good long weekend it also means that you avoid the traffic jams leaving the show on the Sunday evening. There will be live entertainment on the Saturday night, a hog roast and a silent grand prix. There will hopefully be free entry to the Science Museum and there should be a team karting grand prix for all the exhibitors. There is an anticipated 250 autojumble stands and the Old Sodbury Sortout will be at the show again on the Sunday. The Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary by holding their Annual Southern Show at Wroughton and there are 1000 additional Jaguars expected at this years show with 40,000 paying visitors expected through the gates. I hope to keep entry fees to exhibit on the stand to an absolute minimum and it should cost no more than one pound per caravan, but the more people that come the less it will cost everyone.

And remember, the condition of your caravan isn't important. In fact, the ones that need work attract more attention than the immaculate ones!

For those of you looking to buy a Portafold or Ansfold there are usually a couple for sale every year at Wroughton.

For more detailed information on the show follow the link from the 'Events Diary' page at portafold.co.uk

If you're interested in attending the show please can you PM me so that I can get a rough idea of numbers.

Wroughton 2009 - Update

Post by Admin » Tue, 09 Jun 2009, 4:02 pm

Just so you know the Wroughton Classic Car and Bike Show 2009 is moving location. It will be held 7 miles down the road at The Liddington, Foxhill, near Swindon, Wilts, SN4 0DZ.

This should provide the extra room the show needs to expand and the extra facilities should prove to be popular, as will the extra exits from the show field on Sunday evening!

I will be informing everyone who is booked to display on the portafold.co.uk stand when I send out the tickets.

More information can be found by following the link from the Events Diary page of the site.

Saturday or Sunday?

Post by Misty Meg » Sat, 27 Jun 2009, 6:09 pm

I hope to come to the show but wonder if anyone has any suggestions on which is the best day (as I've not been before)?

The only thing I have thought of is that as some will stay Saturday night and go home Sunday the traffic leaving Saturday might be lighter...

Any thoughts? - thanks

Hello,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news , but just found out that the show has now been cancelled. Even after it's relocation of site from Wroughton to Liddington near Swindon. Apparently due to Liddington having problems and not enough time to relocate to another new site

:( kind regards Snorbs

After a manic day of running around trying to find an alternative, I can confirm that the 'Wroughton Classic' as it was known has been cancelled.

But we have found a sort of alternative the following week. More details will follow.
