Awning Poles
Hi Listers, I've just put our awning up for the first time and it seems to be missing a pole that runs in the middle of the roof. We seem to only have the part that connects into the frame at the front of the awning, i.e. the part furthest from the portfold door. How does the pole connect to the Por...

Re: Introduce Yourself
Hi All, Cracking idea for a thread! I'm from the North East of England and have been into Classic Cars since the late 70s (to be fair some of them were just regarded as old bangers then :D ). We've just bought the Portafold to allow us to camp when we are using one of our smaller classics. I'd seen ...

Re: Our new Portafold
I've had a look at other awning photos on the forum and ours seems to be a different design to the others. Ours extends sideways while the others seem to come straight out from the back of the portafold. I wonder how many different awning designs there were? There was no makers label on the awning a...

Re: Our new Portafold
I was amazed at the size of it. It seems like the awning is bigger than the portafold! At least I'll have somewhere to keep the car dry :D It seems to be missing a pole that runs through the middle of the roof between the frame and the portafold roof, but other than that and the guy ropes it seems c...

Re: Our new Portafold
Finally managed to get the awning up tonight. It needed a few minor repairs but does seem to be the correct awning for the van. It even has a shaped section to close the gap under the fan. It also seems to have an internal devider that forms a toilet area. If attached some photos of the awning. It i...

Re: Our new Portafold
The MkIII seem to be rather sought after at the moment so I don't think you'll have any trouble selling if you can bear to lose her. I can say from bitter experience its easier getting in and out of a spitfire than it is a GT6 (especially with the roof down )

Re: Our new Portafold
One of mine does too. We bought it boxes. Its body shell is complete, just needs the engine rebuilding, and the gearbox, then the re-triming, etc, etc, etc

Re: Our new Portafold
Thanks for your comments on the Portafold. All I need is some dry weather to test the awning  I know what you mean about the cars, I have a GT6 that I have owned since 1984, I would struggle to part with that. BTW please don't tell my wife that you have a MkIII for sale or that may be another ...

Now you mention it, they look close to what I remember a Singer Gazelle estates lights were. But I think they had a chrome housing/surround
