New locking handles

Postby Admin » Wed, 03 Jan 2007, 1:09 pm

If anyone is missing their external chrome door handles altogether (like I was when I bought my Portafold) I do have a company that produces the original specification handles brand new. They come complete with 2 keys per handle and they are able to supply them with matching locks. I now have 4 keys that fit both top and bottom locks. One each for me and the Mrs and two spare.

New locking handles

Postby stuartbubbles » Sun, 14 Jan 2007, 10:31 pm

When I got my Portafold - the previous owner had managed to misplace the keys - fortunately while it was unlocked !
I managed to get good reproductions from Paul Beck Vintage Supplies - they look FAB and he has a good selection if you want something a little different - though some might say a little pricey...

new keys

Postby paul~3 » Sat, 20 Jan 2007, 5:39 pm

Just been to the locksmith with my key number as found on the shaft. yep got a new key, now found out the darned thing only turns halfway and not the fault of the key, £5 wasted. Last year i bought one brand new original handle with two keys from a vintage car gathering for £7.50.... I'll be back there again. Ooh the problems with having three portafolds. There is a message here...

External handles

Postby Admin » Tue, 23 Jan 2007, 9:06 pm

Ok, don't call me a Portafold anorak but I've got the full info on the external handles. The correct style handles are still being made by a company called Weston Body Hardware (http://www.wbh.co.uk), part no.B18-1/12950, and you can buy them direct from WBH or from their retailers. Don't be fooled by similar looking handles that don't have the 45mm hole spacing.

Don't forget to mention Portafold.co.uk when ordering your handles, it won't get you any money off but hey, it's all publicity for the site...
