Insulation

Anything you've created that didn't come out of the factory.

Hello Bigbird,

To keep the van warmer and stop condensation we have tried to insulate the walls and roof. For the roof Kath used a cotton bed sheet, this is fixed to the roof in the centre and each side with velcro. This method of traping a layer of air is used in trailer tents etc. The fluffy part was sewn to the sheet and the hooky part was fixed to the roof with no-nails. Last year we camped in the snow at Easter and was very cosy but we was on hook-up with our little heater on.

Regards
Len

Hi Len,

That's one nice interior.

I presume that the 'ceiling' would have to have just a relatively small air gap (say 1 - 2") and be of a heavyish material to be effective?

Is that the original quilting on the walls?

The cushion/wall covering material looks like the heavy-duty stuff the bus companies cover their seats with - where did you get it from?

Shame about the legs (mind you I can't speak )

Thanks

Ian

Hello Ian

The ceiling gap varies as the roof domes upward and the roof liner drapes down a little between the velcro fixings. The material is light cotton but enough to retain the air in the cavity as often used in trailer tents etc.

The walls are covered with table insulating protector which normally used to protect the surface of a polished dining room table from hot plates and bowls.

The cushion/wall covering is an heavy material that Kath got from a local fabric shop.

Len,

Nice bit of lateral thinking with the table insulation
