Roof lining

Post by The Gomersalls » Sun, 08 Mar 2015, 11:22 am

Right the weather is improving so its time to get the jobs done, we spent all day yesterday scraping the cracked paint off the Portafolds ceiling, still not finished but if it stays fine today we might just get there. Nightmare of a job since the wire brush didn't touch it and we've already removed about 2kg of paint scrapings.

What are the options for it when were done?

I've read the posts about Veltrim but after sending for a sample card it looks thicker than I expected so worried about how tricky it will be to do especially with the wings. (like them so don't want to fill them in.)

Also noted that if we just paint it again we will get condensation.

Are there any other options?

How many are simply painted and how many use Veltrim also how much heavier will the roof be to lift if we decide to go with Veltrim?

Thanks

John & Marie

There are quite a few threads already about ceilings and Veltrim, here are a couple:

Have a look through the Maintenance & Restoration section, there is probably a few more.

We now have the stuff for lining the roof and the rear wardrobes. For anyone who may be looking for this the stuff you need is not Veltrim, it's a similar product listed as easy liner from the company we bought ours from (harrison trim) and it is 4 way stretch as mentioned in another posting.

We have just done the wardrobes today and although not the easiest of jobs, we now hopefully have a bit more idea of how to tackle the roof, not looking forward to doing it but praying for fine weather tomorrow just to get it done then onto the nice decoration part.

A fine day at last and the roof is done! not an easy job and its not perfect in the fins but at least it looks 100 times better than it did with its flaky paint.

We wont be rushing to repeat the process but at least were still talking to each other.
