Mine had polystyrene all over the lower parts of the walls, and it had been painted over as well. But, as with polystyrene, it had pick marks where little bits had been picked off, or and been knocked, so it was looking a bit sad for itself. Once I started removing it with the help of a Dyson and a scraper it was mouldy behind it.

Don't forget that GRP is not waterproof. If you left a GRP boat in the water long enough it would sink because water would penetrate through and fill it up.

So Portafolds, whilst they are very water resistant, are not water proof, and water/dampness will penetrate through and make cushions/linings etc mouldy.

On a side note, Veltrim is a good way of lining your Portafold walls. Easy to fit and bend round corners, even for beginners.
