Re: Wanted Pictures of the Ansfold Kitchenpart ?

Hi Anders, I've recently posted pictures of my Ansfold's interior, which includes its kitchen of course, on the Owner's Gallery thread. It's titled "Steve & Rose's Ansfold Interior". It's highly un-original, including a gas-fridge & one or two other extras. Are you looking for views of an original i...

Re: First Portafold in Sweden.

Hi Anders, Very tidy-looking caravan you have there! Although one thing caught my eye...... In your first picture, of the van folded, I noticed how close the tyre is to the top of the wheel arch. Were there a lot of heavy things inside at the time? If not, when you load it up for use you will find t...

Re: Ansfold Badge

There's no sign of mine ever having had one, & my roof's never been painted. I must remember to look at Alan Madge's next time I see it. Although his roof has been painted, his van has led a very sheltered life; if it ever was badged it ought to be possible to see traces of it, or of its removal, be...

Inside Steve & Rose's Ansfold

Hi all, I've been meaning for yonks to take these photos. I thought I'd better do it soon, before things get too scruffy! There are more pics of the 'mods' in other threads, these show the finished articles - or as finished as things are at the moment. Bed.jpg BED - Made in the usual Ansfold way, wi...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hi all, yes this does seem a good thread-idea, thanks Ted. I'm Steve Lord. I've been a professional vehicle restorer for the last 27 years & I do some of the technical advice on here. I tow our Ansfold with a 1957 Morris Minor 1000 which is my daily-use car that I've owned since 1971. Also, I'm curr...

Re: Bedtime Story/Something for the Winter?

Ansfoldsplitpin.jpg Hi all, I was servicing my van & I took a pic of the "aircraft" type of splitpin fitting, which I use on my hub nuts. It gives improved shearing resistance, & a further bonus is reduced protrusion into the grease cap. So if (like me) you use non-standard wheels & hub caps, this ...

Re: What are your slats made of?

Hi Meg, I've used 3 pieces of good-quality planed softwood, they are about 5" wide by 3/4" thick & an easy fit across the footwell rebates (van's folded at the moment otherwise I'd measure them exactly). They pack tidily away in the locker next to the n/s wheelarch, with other interior-structure par...

Quietness

Hi all, I hope all this peace & tranquillity means everyone's beaverin' away getting their 'vans ready for the summer season! Can we expect record turn-outs of freshly restored Portys & Annies this year? Seriously, I hope lots of you will get out for rest &relaxation in them & have great times! Chee...

Re: Gluey subject...

I hope you're well also & that the cider is proof against the current chilly weather.... Regrettably, it's good to clean all the old finishes off the upper walls, so as to keep them as light as possible - unfolding & erecting the walls can feel like fairly hard work. Quite apart from the damage the ...

Re: Gluey subject...

Hi Meg, If it rubs off with a finger, would it be possible to scrape it off with a wallpaper scraper? It would need to be a narrow one (the wider they are, the more effort to push it, & the more distortion of the panel) or perhaps a Scarsden scraper as used by furniture reclaimers to get old varnish...
