Interference between upper & lower doors

Hi all, when I open our upper door, I have to make sure the lower one doesn't open with it as they foul badly. The hinge pins are a long way out of line. Lawrie Newton's, the only other one I've seen, was nearly as bad. He told me they were all like it. Surely the hinges lined up when the vans were ...

Roof

Just re-read your question.... the roof is double-thickness; ours has the inner layer only turned itself inside-out at the back. I intend to make a channel-section 'bow' in thin mild steel, about 1" x 1/4" section & fix it to the strap loop positions. We've stripped all the interior trim from ours t...

New Project

Hi, our Ansfold wasn't in much better state than yours...... I used 4" good-quality household door butt hinges, made of extruded brass with stainless-steel pins. You cut them in half, so you have to buy 9, ending up with one spare. This only gives you 2 fixing holes per hinge-flap, but this eases th...

Spotted

Hi Matt, am I allowed Lawrie & Christine Newton's Porty in this list? Not actually seen on the road as such, & a Morris Minor rally's a fertile sighting ground for folding/small caravans generally. But I hadn't arranged to meet them or anything... so I think it counts as a "spotting" really!

1100 Club people

Hey, KorenM, I used to know several bods in your club! Is Mervyn Irvine still "Spannerman"? He was lecturing at Guildford Technical College in the '70s, the best in the MV dept. And are Dave Brett & Chris Bryant still members? Sadly Dave was quite ill when I saw him last so he may not be. I rebuilt ...

Tow cars

Putting this up on behalf of Lawrie & Christine Newton, Portafolders of Southampton who don't have internet access. We met them last weekend, they tow with a 1098cc Morris Minor 1000 Traveller.

First Time Out

It's fun isn't it? First time out for us this weekend! Wasn't really ready of course, as the time got shorter & shorter I kept knocking jobs off the list "Could manage without". So we went with no roof lining, no wall linings, no panelling below thw wall-shelves & no cupboards at all apart from the ...

How to date a Portafold/Ansfold

Hi all, just got back from the Morris Minor club national rally. We encountered fellow Portafolders Lawrie & Christine Newton from Southampton with their Minor-towed 1965 Porty. They told me the last 2 digits of the chassis number was the date of manufacture - simple, isn't it? Apparently they knew,...

Hinge Tape

Our Ansfold had 4" wide self-adhesive plastic tape, reinforced with nylon strands, stuck over the hinge axes of the folding sides. We've been making rather half-hearted attempts to find a replacement for this, but all we are offered is 2" Duct tape (sometimes called Duck- or Gaffa-tape). So that's w...

'Awning' made by Caranex

Just been looking at www.caranex.co.uk which I saw advertised in Old Glory mag. Their tents are primarily for the backs of estate cars pickups vans etc., but they list one for the back of Romahome,Hytop, Duo & Bambi motorhomes which looks about right for our 'vans to me.... what does everyone else t...
