Finally, I post a picture of mine

Well here it is finally, a picture of my 1968 Portafold. I 'rescued' mine from my old house in Devon last night and I took this picture in a lay-by on the way home. You could say this is an advert for living in Devon or Dorset, picturesque views over rolling hills. Absolutely beautiful. Plus if anyo...

Ian, Thanks for that, your advice is gratefully received. Although in my case it's only the side panels that are in need of attention. When I first got mine back in 2002 I had a few of the hinges broken and seized so I handed the whole thing over to a guy I knew who did repairs on Reliants. He repla...

Ian (eejit),

How have you got on with your hinges? Are those ones the right ones? and did the countersunk rivets work OK?

Can you tell I've got to do mine before 'Wroughton' in a few weeks time?

Cheers

Fraser, The easiest way to do it is to have the long mattress cushions in the side 'pods' but at the front of the Portafold near to the wardrobes, that way they will miss the support moulding for the bunk across the back. You can then place a square cushion in the side pods at the rear end, below wh...

Pressures

Steve,

I've got a relevant question regarding the tyres. As 99% of us would now have radials on our vans and the original paperwork states to pump the (crossply) tyres up to 24psi...

what would you recommend we pump our radials up to?

My mistake, must be a different show I'm thinking of. We're going to Broadlands but we're only camping in the Portafolds not actually showing them. Unfortunately they're stinging us £10  for the pleasure of pitching our caravans in a field, and as far as I know there's no showers or extra fac...

Laura,

You beat me to it, we will be going to the Hampshire Pageant at Broadlands and hopefully we'll be having a joint stand with with the Hampshire Bygones, run by Snorbs (or Justine as it is on her birth certificate).

We're just finalising details for it now, so we'll be in touch.

I've got 10" caravan and trailer tyres. Not being a tyre expert I couldn't tell you what makes them different to car tyres but they do the job very well and I don't have any wandering. The receipt shows '145/10 Camac T/L' The T/L should stand for tubeless and in 2003 they cost me £20 each including ...
