Sounds like the hold down clips losing their strength due to age/springs weakening etc. like mine. On mine only 1 out of the 4 works which is why i'm making new ones of my own design.

i tried once to sleep on the sides 6ft 3 and 15 stone = one very uncomfortable night 8 slats of 6"x3/4" down the centre and one of the side backs perfect

yes they are 12 inch rims i believe hillman imp but not sure the hub caps are chromed steel again not sure of origin
