Re: My Portafold Restoration

Hi! Thank you :) It was car paint. My dad was a classic car restorer. I believe the manufacturer is Movac. The colours are Standard Triumph Wedgewood Blue (to match the car) and Land Rover Limestone (the creamy colour). It's lasted very well. We did one primer coat with standard cream primer, and th...

Re: Sywell Pistons and Props

Five apparently, so it could be quite easy for us to gather enough for a club.

Sywell Pistons and Props

Hello

Is anyone interested in the Sywell Pistons and Props event in September? It's free entry for clubs, and I know we're not exactly a club, we are a group and I'm sure we could arrange to get in as a club.

What does everyone think? It looks great.

Re: Sun Canopy

In terms of keeping the heat in, we've covered every inch in veltrim, including the seat box tops (which also stops the cushions moving). We've also invested in an electric fan heater with a thermostat that runs all night but we're thinking of installing a Prppex blown air heater for when we don't h...

Sun Canopy

We were very fortunate to find a second-hand (though nearly new) bathroom blind for sale at a Steam Fair - in Baby Blue! It is enormous and is slightly plasticy on one side. My father had the great idea of rigging up some hooks and poles and creating a sun shade for the side of the 'Fold. It's a non...

Shows this weekend

Hello we've just got back from a fabulous weekend with the Portafold. On Saturday, we were in Eastbourne at the Magnificent Motors - and there was a queue to see the Portafold! It was a bit nerve-wracking putting up the caravan in front of an audience, but it was so much fun to show how easy it was....

Re: What sort of improvements benefit a Portafold

One modification I have found very useful is the Island Leg for a table. Our portafold didn't come with the original three-legged table, and we wanted to create wrap around seating at the front, and a three-legged or standard legged table would have proved shuffling round difficult. We bought a kit ...

Re: Fawley Hill Vintage Extravaganza

This is a brilliant show. We went last year with the classic cars. Such an unusual venue but so much to see. We're already booked in with the Morris and the Portafold but we are only going on Sunday as we're in Beaulieu on Saturday. We'll make sure we pitch with the portafolds on Sunday if you'll ha...

Towing the Portafold

Hello When we first bought the Portafold, we collected it using a Land Rover. We were shocked by how heavy the nose weight was (the spare wheel was on the A Frame), and how heavy it seemed to manouvere. Later that week, we went to Dorset Steam Fair, where we saw a couple of Portafolds. The Owners to...

Re: Interior Roof Lining

Hi! Congrats on the new Portafold ownership. I would suggest scraping everything off the internal roof - I used a wire wheel on a power drill (though make sure you wear mask and goggles). That way you can make sure you have definitely gt rid of any damp and mildew. It'll be a long job, but well wort...
